Spay/Neuter Incentive Program (SNIP)

SNIP is a year-round, income-based program made possible by the generous cooperation of our local veterinary partners. Qualifying pet owners are eligible for spay/neuter services at a reduced rate of $60 for cats and $80 for dogs.* These prices offer participants a minimum savings of 50% as the average spay/neuter costs can range from between $100-150 for cats and $165-370 for dogs.

TTCHS coordinates SNIP in conjunction with participating local veterinary practices, where the procedures are performed. TTCHS will verify eligibility, collect payment, and issue official SNIP certificates.

*The physical condition of your pet can affect the cost of surgery. Animals that are in heat, pregnant, cryptorchid, or obese involve additional surgical time and may result in additional charges. If the pre-surgical exam shows that your pet has health problems, your vet may require treatment prior to surgery. Proof of current rabies vaccination is required or a vaccination will be administered on the day of surgery for an additional charge. Un-bathed or flea-ridden animals are more prone to developing post-surgical infections and should not be taken to the veterinarian in that condition.

Costs for pre-surgical blood tests, vaccinations, and post-surgical pain medications can vary and are not included with a SNIP certificate. Such charges are the responsibility of the pet owner.

To qualify, please provide a valid picture I.D. showing resident of Thomas or Grady County, proof of rabies vaccination, and one of the following:

  • EBT Card (with recent receipt)

  • Medicaid Card

  • Unemployment Check Stub (with most recent tax return)

  • Disability Benefit Verification Letter (with most recent tax return)

  • Most recent tax return showing (i) one-adult household with income less than $35,000 per year or (ii) two-adult household with income less than $60,000 per year
